EXPANDABLE POLYSTYRENE (EPS)
IPG has supplied engineering, design, layout, and equipment
selection and procurement services for upgrades, expansions and
grassroots EPS plants in Asia, Europe and the Mideast. We have also
provided on-site pre-commissioning and start-up services for these
facilities, whose capacities ranged from 660 MTA (pilot plant) to
48,000 MTA. These designs feature IPG’s proprietary reactor/agitator
system, which provides excellent bead size control, as well as our
closed loop heating/cooling system that requires virtually no
external water.
HEALTH & BEAUTY AIDS (HBA)
In this area, IPG has designed and/or upgraded raw material
storage, supply and HBA production facilities. Examples include:
- A tank farm relief valve system
- Retractable platforms used by workers while transferring raw
materials from tank cars to storage tanks via flexible hoses
- Ladders and access platforms in a tank farm
We have provided assistance in the design, installation and start-up
of environmentally controlled rooms and production facilities. In
addition, we have also performed HAZOP studies leading to
significant safety improvements in plant systems and operating
practices, both within and outside of the HBA market.
CHEMICAL PROCESS INDUSTRY (CPI)
IPG has performed many projects in new plant system designs and upgrades, including generation of “as-built” P&IDs specific to each operation. A sample of these projects include:
- A new tank farm for an adhesives plant
- Reactor modifications for a polymerization facility
- Piping modifications and new equipment selection/installation in
the chemical mixing industry
- The complete design, equipment specification/installation
assistance and start-up of a pilot uranium reclamation facility
- The design and assistance in start-up and operation of the main
grout delivery system for the Fort Point Channel portion of Boston’s
Central Artery Tunnel Project (the “Big Dig”)
FOOD PROCESSING
In this area, IPG has performed many projects involving the design,
engineering, layout and equipment selection and specification, both
for new installations and upgrades of existing facilities, in the
United States, Pakistan and China. These projects, each of which
involved the engineering of environmentally controlled production
areas, included:
- A cook/chill system for a plant in Beijing that produced
pre-packaged lunches for local schools
- A beverage concentrate facility
- Various product and raw material cold room and freezer room
installations
